Time Needed: 40 Min – 1 Hr
Difficulty: 4 / 10
Install:
This install is pretty straight forward. What needs to be done is connect two wires to the existing harness and run the one light to the drivers side. Once over then just need to mount and you will be good to go.
Before we begin this is what you should have received in the box. 2 lamps (Pre-Wired) 2 Wire Clamps, 2 Sticky Pads, 2 wire holders (Gray) and some zip ties.
Before we begin I just wanted to say you can pretty much skip most of the first steps as you do not really have to remove the glove box. I did though for the tutorial and it does make it easier to work with.
Start by removing the Door sill by pulling it strait up. This will all you to then remove the kick panel after removing the retaining plug.
Next remove the dash strip then remove the 2 black screws that hold the glove box in. Once removed pull the glove box strait out being careful to not pull to far as you need to remove the light that is attached to the glove box.
If NOT removing the glove box this is where you will want to start. Start by removing the fuse panel cover that is located below the glove box in the foot area. It is held in place by 2 push clips, push them in and it will come right off.
Once removed this is the harness you need to access. To remove push the to black clips on the side and then pull down. This will remove the wiring harness giving you access to the wires you need.
Next need to identify the wires that are needed to tap into. As you can see in the picture there are 3 wires in the middle. The 2 wires we will need to splice are the Black/Blue in the middle of the 3 wires. This is your negative (Black -) and then the Grayish\Orange just to the left of it for positive. (Red +)
At this point if you are using the wire clamps that came with it make sure to hook the Red (+) Wire to the Gray\Orange and the Black (-) Wire to the Black\Blue. Wire clamps are very easy to use just put the wire from the lamps in the side that does not go all the way through then put the other side on to the wire itself and clam it down using your pliers.
If doing the way I did use your wire strippers and strip back a little section on the wires mentioned above. Then wrap the end of the wire from the lamps on to that section of stripped wire. Once done add a little solder to secure it and tape it up.
Once all of it is taped up reconnect the harness and push the black cover back into place to lock it in.
At this point you can test your results by opening a door.
Now all that is left is to run the lamp to the driver’s side and mount. Start by removing the center kick panels on both sides. They are held in by one push pop. Note the back with the guide that holds in that end.
Run the lamp though the center console you can see the light in the middle there. Once pulled though use one of the gray wire holders to help secure it in place. You will want to use the rubbing alcohol at this point to get the best stick as possible. Then use one of the sticky pads to keep the lamp attached as shown.
At this point replace your kick panel and your driver’s side is done. All that is left is to mount the passenger side. You can tuck the wires between the fuse panel and the outside panel and mount the light to the bottom vent. This is really the only place that I saw it would fit with no problems. Once mounted re install your glove box then kick panel and door sill. Then you are done!
