Tutorial: Bumper Removal

Published by Krystm under Mazda Tutorials

Tools Required:

Philips Head Screwdriver OR 8 mm Socket

Difficulty: 2/10

Time Required: 10 Min / 20 Min for first timer

First thing is first the splash guards inside the wheel well have 2 plastic screws that need to be removed. Once these are removed you will be able to peel back the splash guard and you will be able to reach the screw inside that holds the bumper edges to the car.

Across the bottom there should be 11 8mm screws 5 across the front and 3 on each side that will need to be removed. They are black in color and on newer models they seem to have a philips head in the middle so you can use ether so if you have a power screw driver you maybe able to use it so check that out as well.

These are what the screws look like: You only need to remove these not the Silver ones that are also on the guard.

The sides will be able to now pull off to almost remove the bumper, All that is left holding it on now is the screws at the top.

Once those are all removed on the top there are 4 screws that hold the bumper under the hood. Remove these and all that is holding the bumper on is 2 plastic clips that need to be unclipped to pull the bumper off. Being that this is a Speed you also need to remove the Air Deflector.

When removing the bumper be very careful as your fog lights and I believe the air bag sensor are still attached*. Simply un clip them and you have removed the bumper. Follow the steps in reverse to put the bumper back on.

Edit: The Device on the front of the bumper is the Ambient Temp Sensor just FYI.

Krystm’s Garage and it’s affiliates are not responsible for any damage or problems that may come from doing this incorrectly this is only a guide. However if you follow this guide and are careful there should be no problems. Just take your time and follow the guide.

Krystm’s Garage Re-Build

Published by Krystm under News

I find myself with a lot of time now in my new position. I feel that I have not given enough attention to this site so I am going to rebuild it and create the tutorials that I have seen a lot of requests for.  These will be the same tutorials that I once followed with my own pictures and way that I did it. These will also be for past mods that I have already done and future ones I plan to do. Other then that not to much going on being Day 1 all over again. I will also be adding re-caps for events that the OAC holds including pictures and blogging of some of the things we did.

Thanks to Steve and the OAC for hosting this as my server seems to be a bit slow and this way we won’t have to redirect it will be a direct link.
